      <image:title>About - I’m Lys.</image:title>
<image:caption>Born in Togo, raised between Benin, the United States, and France. I’ve lived and worked on five continents, learned languages by necessity, and observed cultures with the particular attention of someone who has never quite belonged to just one. I moved to the Netherlands to do something that felt almost radical after all that movement: stay. I live in Utrecht now. I’ve been here long enough to know that staying is its own kind of practice. What I do with all of that I’m the founder of a strategic storytelling agency that helps western institutions tell more accurate and more commercially effective stories about the global south and its diaspora communities. The premise is simple: the dominant narrative about immigrant and diaspora communities in western markets is not just ethically incomplete. It’s a business liability. My agency exists to fix that. In addition, I produce and host The Finding Blyss Podcast — a space for conversations that don’t rush to conclusions. The most recent series, Thoughts From Between Places, explores the immigrant mindset not as a story of hardship or triumph, but as a transferable intelligence: a way of reading the world that the 21st century is going to need from all of us. My current creative endeavor is Bloom: Extending the Portrait into Voice — a podcast series in development extending the visual work of Dutch artist Dagmar van Weeghel, whose four-year portrait project addresses the erasure of women of African descent from the 19th-century European photographic archive. I am one of the women in those portraits. The podcast exists because the portraits, however intentionally made, cannot hold voice. In a past life Before all of this: a decade in international communications spanning the UN ecosystem, development finance, and global media — at FMO, Devex, and SNV, among others. Two masters degrees, in economic development and digital media management, from Sciences Po. Four languages. A sustained conviction that the stories institutions tell about the world shape the world they get. You are here Ina world obsessed with time, I’ve always held a soft spot for place. Finding Blyss is where I think in public. Essays, podcast episodes, travel dispatches from places that have something to say about how the world actually works. Less lifestyle content or inspiration, but something closer to what happens when you pay attention to the places and people that western media tends to summarise hastily. If you’re here because something resonated; a podcast episode, a post, a conversation: welcome. There’s more where that came from.</image:caption>
